After being postponed a week because of the hurricane Pirates Week Finally arrived! It is sort of equivalent to the 24th in Utah. They celebrate the pirate heritage here on the island and also the heritage of the early settlers of Cayman. 
They have activities all week at the different towns on the island. We didn't get a chance to attend any of those. The main things all went on Saturday at the George Town Harbor. We did miss the landing of the pirate ship and the pirate pageant. (Everything started 1hour ahead of schedule.) But we got to see the parade which is what my girls were looking forward to the most. 
Here we are taking in the sight of the festivities.
We found a good spot to watch the parade. It was really warm when we first got there, but some clouds came and made it perfect weather for a parade.
The first entry in the parade was this ship and all these pirates. They had a bunch of guys dressed as the British in shackles. They were all yelling things like "dead men walking. This island belongs to the pirates, ect..." Some of the pirates were dressed up so cool. They would walk up to you and hold a sword to your throat and say things like " Arr, I think this one be needing his throat slit ect..." then throw a bunch of pirate gold at you.
This girl caught Allie off guard and it scared her. It was really funny. I think the girls were sort of scared by some of the pirates but they were just as excited to be getting necklaces and pirate treasure so it made up for it.
Ha ha, I had to laugh at this float. The sign in front of it said " Cayman the early years" and then had people dressed as mosquito's all around. Mosquito's used to be so bad on the island that they couldn't hardly raise cattle because the mosquito's would kill them. They are the nuisance that plagues us each night if we are out from 6-9 at night. I am glad that the wet season is over so hopefully the mosquito's wont be as bad.
You can't celebrate pirates with out Captain Hook.
The girls got more in the pirate spirit as the parade went on. Austin found a red pirate arm band for Kaity and Allie caught a bandanna that one of the floats threw. Kaity was actually swinging her arm and saying "yo ho, Yo ho, and Arr"
A really big thing in the Caribbean is the steel drums. They sound really cool and you almost can't help but dance when you hear them.
There are even 3 legged pirate dogs. (you can't really see it in the picture but this dog had a hook on his sleeve where he is missing the leg. How funny hu.)
A little stop to refresh. 
That night we went and sat by the beach to watch the fire works. Due to my half broken camera I couldn't get any good pictures. It was really cool. We were across the water of the fireworks, and we could see the reflection they made all the way across the water. It was very relaxing and really cool. I can't wait for next years Pirates week. I am defiantly going to dress up and get more into the festivities.

Pirates' Week was so fun. I agree! Although, I wish we would have run into each other.. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night. Remind me to tell you about Katy's "pregnant" comment from primary. I asked if the children knew what being "resurrected" meant and she said, "Being resurrected means you are pregnant." You have the cutest girls. David and I always talk about how we want beautiful girls like yours.

Hey Myers Family, Hope you don't mind, but we found you blog through Vic's site! We are so excited and Jaeley loves to see pics of Allie and Katie! It is good to see you made it through the hurricane and are all doing well and getting wonderfully tan. As we are dealing with the cold, you are enjoying the beach! How lucky! Ok what the hell! You guys are all wearing shorts and tank tops and we are over here freezing our Aces off. So not right! I miss you guys! I wish we could come see you and put our shorts back on for a week. I see you checked out that blog. Isn't it the best. I love it. Are you hooked like I am? Are you going to be able to see Twilight. We need to get on Skype and chat without the boys. K sorry to write a story I just miss being able to have a conversation with you. That would be nice. You guys need to get a phone. What the crap this is 2008 who doesn't have a phone anymore? Do you need donations cuz I can start a fund raiser. I love that you put a pic with you. K I love you guys and miss you.
FROM KALEB wow hiedey the pirates week sounds prety cool i wish i was there. by the way dad got his hip surgery yesterday he is still in the hospitall but he should be able to come out on sunday or saturday. kade is fine mom is fine elena is fine so is hadyn and i am fine we all miss you guys tell alley,austin and katie hi for us.
