Hot Diggidy Dog

Today we went to the Humane Society Dog Show. I was a little nervous about bringing Allie because of her huge fear of dogs. I explained to her that there would be lots of dogs and she still wanted to go. When we first got there she was okay for about 1 minute then she got scared and tried to head back for the car. I picked her up and was carrying her while trying to keep up with Kaity, who was in absolute heaven. Luckily, we ran into our friends the Wilson's. They had a double stroller that Allie could get in with Porter, while Kaity and Kate ran back and forth petting dogs.
We finally talked Allie into petting a dog named Watson, while still sitting in the stroller.

With perfect timing we ran into our other good friends Ishmael and Elene. Which was a life saver because the Wilson's were getting ready to leave and there was no way I could have kept up with Kaity and pack Allie around. Allie and Kaity absolutely love Ish and Elene. Ish talked Allie into getting out of the stroller. Huge shocker !!!

Eventually he even had her petting dogs. This is an even bigger step for Allie.

Now Kaity was a whole different story at the dog show. She was totally in her element; meeting and talking to complete strangers, while petting dogs. Life couldn't get any better for her. She kept going from dog to dog petting them and playing with them the entire time. I think she had a personal goal to pet every dog there.

Then we saw a horse....wait that's not a horse it's a Great Dane. I am not sure Kaity was sure what to think of this gigantic dog that was taller than her.

She eventually became best friends with it and started to pose next to the dog as several people standing around took pictures of her with the dog. I missed some of the cutest pictures of her because I was laughing at her posing. She looked like she was posing for a magazine cover. She would put her hands on her hips, tilt her head towards the dog and was waving in between poses to all the onlookers. It was a little embarrassing...but cute.

If they would have been giving out an award for "Biggest Dog Enthusiast"

Kaity would have won hands down!!!

It was a pretty fun day and I am so glad we went. I think it really helped Allie start to get past her fear of dogs.

Your girls are stinkin cute. Their hair is so pretty. Did you know that 'hot diggidy dog' is the Mickey Mouse Playhouse theme song? That show is currently Jovie's favorite...anyway, I saw your title and just had to smile.

How fun! That's funny that they are so opposite like that! Glad that it ended up working out for you though! They look so cute by the way with their hair in those 'pig buns' (as we call them at our house)!!

That sounds great, I think Ammie would have been in heaven. I wish that you were closer because I think Kaity would be really good for Ammie. She has started to really like kids and imitating what they do, and she loves dogs so that would have been awesome. And what a great way to help Allie face her fears.

I laughed and laughed! I think this was your funniest post so far,'cause I know how Allie is. Ha-ha. Like with our cats and dogs, and "princess" our neighbors dog, etc. I could just see her screaming and scrambling to get into your safe arms, and you thinking about how you're actually gonna have to carry her through this whole thing, while trying to hang onto Kaity running from dog to dog. I so wish I had been there with you. Holly and I are planning to come see you, just don't know how we're gonna break the news to the rest of the family. Ha! Love Mom
