You Can't Live on "Tortuga" and Not Go Explore Pirate Caves!

Yesterday we took the girls to go see the old pirate caves on the Island. It was pretty fun. They have this mini zoo that you can walk through and then these old caves that pirates used to hide their loot in. Since Austin has this obsession with pirates, we of course had to see these before he starts school.

This is a fresh water tank that had fish and fresh water stingrays. It was cool because it was really shallow so you could see the fish and stingrays really good.

This is the turtles, wow, fun hu?

Of course they had goats, pigs, horses, and a cow but being as we just moved from Beaver, Utah this was nothing new to us. The girls had fun looking at the mountain goats though.

This is Grand Caymans national bird, It's a parrot of some sort.

(I can't remember it's exact name.)

This is a blue and gold Macaw. (sure, I can remember this one's name)

Here we are finally going to see the caves. Allie was sick of the animals at this point as you can see on her face.

This is the entrance of the caves

The girls found some pirate gold. Allie was really scared to open the chest and look inside. She wouldn't open it until Austin was right there with her.

They had a bunch of bones, sculls, swords, lantern, and other pirate stuff all over the cave.

Austin, (my wannabe pirate) was like a little boy on Christmas morning. He had a good time exploring the caverns.

This cavern was too low for an adult to go down so we gave the girls the flash lights and talked them into going down it. This other little girl came and went in it with them for a minute. Once she left they wouldn't go back anymore so I had to crawl back there with them.

It was really hot and humid inside the cave, so by the time we exited we were all dripping with sweat and the fresh air felt so good.

We all had to try the stocks out before we left.

We couldn't talk Kaity into letting us close it on her head.

As we were leaving they had this bird that you could hold. The bird loves to get it's picture taken.

We had a good time at the caves. Allie and Kaity got to pick out a jewel before we left, and then the rest of the day they kept telling us "thank you for taking us to the pirate caves" .

I guess that the caverns to the caves used to run out to the ocean but over the years and many hurricanes most of the caverns have been destroyed or caved in. But it is rumored that there is still buried treasure lost in the caverns.

Holy crap that looks so cool. Allie and her "love" of animals cracks me up too. Your girls are so completely different, but they definately look like sisters. All these cool things make me want to save up my pennies so I can come see you!
