Where is October going?

I can't believe we are in the middle of October already. I have not had a chance to blog much because my computer crashed last week so that put a damper on what felt like everything! Austin was using it to send some homework in for his MBA class and it just froze. He had to manually shut it down and when he turned it back on the lights would go on,the fan would go on, the screen was totally black, and it wouldn't boot up. We googled the problem on Austin's computer and tried about a billion things for about 2 hours that night and still nothing. We tried to get it to boot up in the morning and still nothing. Just my luck the night before it crashed I was going through some pictures and realized that all the pictures I have taken this last year that we have been on the island I didn't have backed up. It was late at night and I figured I would back them up later in the week. Ugh! I did a online chat/trouble shoot session with the techs at hp and that was a huge waste of time. They basically had me try everything I had already tried and then told me to take it in to a repair place when I get back in the states in April. Really? Austin has a friend who is good with computers, he took it and tried to figure out what was wrong. He couldn't get it to boot up, but luckily he was able to get everything recovered from my hard drive. Yes!!! My pictures are safe. He is pretty sure that it is the computers motherboard (what ever that is) that needs to be replaced. Oh yeah, we can't get one on the island. blah! But, he does have an extra computer that he is letting me borrow until we can either get a new one or get mine to the states to get it fixed. When ever that will be.

When we went to pay rent our landlord told us that he is putting the condo we live in up for sale. He said we could stay living in it as long as he owns it. I really really hope it doesn't sell before April so I won't have to move. He has a realtor trying to sell it for him and she has to give me a 24 hour notice when she is needs to show it to someone. She was supposed to take pictures of it the day after my computer crashed and I was working with the hp techs trying figure out what was wrong so I rescheduled to have her take pictures on Thursday. She took pictures Thursday, had someone that wanted to see it Saturday, she called me on Friday and said that someone else wanted to see it on Monday. So basically that meant I had to keep the house in show condition (a.k.a spotless) for 5 days in a row. Not so easy when you have kids. It's not really a big deal just a pain in the butt, because when she shows it we can't be here. We have to leave and go somewhere for about a half an hour. Which doesn't seem like a big deal but it does, for some reason, really disrupt our whole day.

On to my final story...Saturday we went to this pool at a resort called Treasure Island. Some friends of ours were going swimming there and they invited us to join them. We had to be out of the house anyway because the realtor was showing the apt. so we went. We had a great time swimming. Our friends left a little before we did so I just laid out by the pool after they left while the girls had a good time jumping off the side of the pool. When it was time to go I let them have "1 more jump". Kaity jumped out really far and then just stayed out treading water so she could stay in the pool longer. She got too tired and couldn't swim in. She yelled for Allie to swim out and help her. Allie swam out to get her but couldn't so I had to jump in and get them both. I was so mad at Kaity for treading water instead of swimming right to the side because I was all dried off and ready to go and now I was a soggy mess. As we were walking out to the car Kaity was walking so slow and complaining that she was too tired to walk because she was so tired from swimming. I was still upset at her because of her final jump in the water so I didn't feel sorry for her at all. When we got out to the parking lot she was still complaining when she tripped and fell face first on the asphalt because she was all wrapped up in her towel. I heard her teeth smack the pavement. I quickly grabbed her and was sure I would see all 4 of her front teeth knocked out. Her mouth was bleeding but the teeth were still there. PHEW! Her front 2 teeth were pretty loose though. I carried her to the car and washed the asphalt off her mouth. she hit so hard that some of the asphalt was scuffed on her front teeth. I had to leave it on there for a day until her teeth were not quite so sore and I could scrape it off. I am so glad her teeth didn't fall out but now they will probably turn grey. Ugh. I felt so bad because I was so mad at her before she tripped and had no sympathy for her when she was walking. I apologized to her later and she said " so you aren't mad at me for hitting my teeth?" Poor little thing. Her teeth are tightening up good and I am just glad it wasn't worse.

I'm glad you got a computer to use! I would go crazy without one...and I'm sure it's ten times worse for you living so far away! Poor little thing falling and hitting her teeth....I swear that is my worst fear! I'm glad she didn't lose them completely though:)

Poor Kaity! Luckily her teeth didn't fall out and at least they are baby teeth. Don't worry.

I am SOOOOO happy you were able to recover your photos. The day you emailed me I actually put together a little folder on my desktop with most pictures that we have together. I thought that I'd send you all the pictures we had together if you lost yours. I should still get them to you someday! :)

Poor little teethies! At least you know that there are lots of kids who eat it and bump their teeth, so what if they are grey, it is a great story....not that I am glad it happened. Hope you can get some of your pictures back.

Our children survive in-spite of us, not because of us. Your a great mom, stop beating yourself up!
