Ant Attack!

Last night Austin needed his hair cut and I usually cut it outside. It has been raining off and on the past week so mosquito's are really bad. We decided to cut it in the house so we wouldn't get bit. I borrowed my neighbors little hand vac so I could hopefully not get hair tracked all over my freshly swept and moped floor. I cut his hair and vacuumed up all the hair. I didn't want to return the hand vac without cleaning it out. I went out to the trash cans and was trying to get the little filter thing off the vacuum. I finally got the filter off and I started to feel these sharp pains all over my feet. I looked down and I was standing right in the middle of an ant pile!!! I had ants all over my feet raging war on them! I dropped the vacuum and frantically brushed at my feet. The more I brushed the more the ants bit. I finally killed or brushed off all the ants. My feet felt like they were on fire! I grabbed the vacuum and moved to the other side of the trash cans hurried and emptied the vacuum ( I had to finish the job I had started) then I ran as fast as I could in the house. By this time my feet were stinging and itching like crazy! I ran up stairs with Allie fresh on my heels into the bathroom. I threw back the shower curtain turned on the cold water to soak my feet. Austin and Allie were both asking what was wrong. I couldn't even concentrate long enough to answer them. All I could get out was " I went out to the trash and " I guess I quit after I said that because Austin and Allie were both still staring at me like I was nuts. Austin finally guessed what had happened. I finished washing my feet off and examined the damage. I counted 14 bites on my feet and 3 on my hands. Ugh!! I couldn't believe how bad the little stinking ant bites could sting and itch. The rest of the night I kept feeling like I had ants crawling and biting my feet. My poor feet are fine today, thank goodness! I hope that I will always remember to look down from now on when I stand in 1 spot for long.

Oh do I have a story to tell about my own incounter with ants and their evil evil bites! I can't believe you didn't say anything about it when I saw you today. The bites must really be feeling better. :) We have some magic numbing stuff that you can use if you want for when the itching gets bad. If you're like me at all the bites last for a week and they keep you up at night even with that evil evil torturous burning and itching. Let me know if you're interested.

hey, wanna edit my first comment and spell encounter correctly for me so I don't look so dumb? :P Or keep both of these so people can laugh at me. Thanks.

Are they the fire ants that burn after they bite you? Those things are very evil. They turn into little white-head sores...I am so sorry for you...get some spray and kill those suckers!

I found your blog on the Stokers Blog, your ant experience seems horrible. At basic training we had a kid sleep on an ant pile, when he woke up his head was swollen, we called him Rocky for the duration of the training. It was funny. Anyway look up or blog at the raddon.blogspot.com

I used to get those all the time when I was little. I forgot how not fun they are. Sucks!

That's kind of scary - you never know if the insects out there are worse/more poisonous than the ones here! Yucky! So, McLane and I had our baby!!! We think he's pretty great.

Hi Heidy, It's Kristen Brown from Beaver and I noticed your blog on Keisha's and thought I would see how you guys were doing in Cayman. It looks like you seem to like it! My mom is sitting here to (Carol Albrecht) and she said to say Hi, that she misses you guys in her ward. Well, I'll check back soon. It was good to see all that you are up to! Allie is getting so big!

Oh the ants!!! They are terrible in PR. When I moved to Texas I was shocked when I found out how much a fire ant bite hurt. That was nothing compared to the ant bites in PR. The bites here actually turn into a pimple/boil looking thing. They hurt like crazy. And they live everywhere! Anytime Sammy gets a bump or something that hurts he calls it and ant. Poor kid has been bit one too many times.
