Last night I was making flour tortillas and I had my dough all separated into about 12 little balls to roll out for the tortillas. Allie and Kaity love to play with my left over dough when I make pizza crust or something like that so the were begging me to let them play with the dough. I told them " no, I needed all the dough for the tortillas I was making". Well Kaity is my child of a million questions and asked " mom what are you going to use the tortillas for?" I told her "I was going to put them in a plastic bag and then in the fridge so we would have them when we needed them." I finished making the tortillas without any more questions. I decided to make tacos for dinner so we could have some of the tortillas while they were fresh and warm. Good idea right? Well, Kaity didn't think it was a good idea at all. When she came to the table to eat she saw that we were having tacos and she was so mad. She kept saying " mom we have tacos all the time, and I don't like tacos, and not tortillas, etc..." She has really been complaining about what is for dinner lately and Austin had had enough so he sent her to time out until she could just be happy that she is getting dinner at all. We let a few minutes go by and Austin told her she could come and eat if she would not complain any more. She got in her chair and immediately started to complain, so she got sent right back to time out. We went through this process 2 more times, with the amount of time she would sit in her chair without compalining getting a little longer each time. Finally, the last time she was getting down from her seat she blew out a discouraged breath of air and walked with her head hung and her little shoulders sagged back to her time out spot. By this time I am fighting not to laugh. I told Austin that we were going to have to listen to her complaint or we would be at this all night. He let her sit in time out a little longer and then called her over to him. He explained that she needs to just be happy with what is for dinner and at least try it before she starts to complain that she doesn't like it. Then he let her have her chance to explain. She put her little hands out and used them quit a bit as she told us " well dad, mom said she was making the tortillas to put in a bag and then put them in the fridge, (her voice raised a little here) and now we are having tacos!" None of us could hold in the laughter any more. It was so funny that she felt so lied to and deceived. She ended up eating all of her taco after she got that huge burden off her chest.
Allie also made me laugh today. The girls were playing school and Allie was the teacher and she was telling Kaity the letters in her name. Then she shouted to me from across the room that I had spelled Kaity's name wrong. I sort of chuckled and asked her "why she thinks I spelled it wrong." She then answered me with a matter-of- fact tone " her name is 'Kay-Dee' you forgot to put the 'd' in it." I started to laugh and tried to explain that her name is really 'Kay-tee' but we are lazy and don't say the 't' right. I don't know if she really got it but hey, at least she is thinking about what letters go in words.

Ha-Ha. I'll bet she was planning on getting in the fridge later to play with that dough in the plastic bags. You spoiled her plan. And Allie thought "Kaidy" should be spelled like Heidy. Huh?
A picture in "time out" would have been sad, but cute for us to see. Time outs are "tough love" but you are doing the right thing. Love Mom
That is so cute. Allie is so smart, and that little Kaity is just full of it, what cute girls.
Cute Girls! And they will be beautiful young women too soon.
Love the stories. Your girls make me laugh. And you'll have to give me your tortilla recipie. I used to make them quite a bit before Christmas. I like my recipie but could use some tips or a better one. It takes me an hour to make 14 tortillas! I loose the motivation to work so much for little results.
Dad
